commonly asked questions

  • Your first visit will last approximately 75-90 minutes. The first part of the visit is dedicated to listening to your health concerns, discussing your health history, and coming up with a TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) diagnosis and treatment plan.

We ask our patients to eat within 2.5 hours before acupuncture treatments. A full meal isn’t necessary but wouldn’t hurt, however a snack will do. This will give your body enough energy to receive the full benefit of your treatment, and helps to avoid any lightheadedness, dizziness or fainting that can happen on an empty stomach.

  • Patients rarely feel any pain after a needle is inserted. If there is any discomfort, that needle will quickly be removed. Some people describe feeling a dull ache, tingling, or a pulsing sensation. Others report feeling nothing at all. Many patients report feeling relaxed shortly after the needles are inserted, which lasts hours or days after receiving a treatment.

  • Many insurance companies cover acupuncture, however each individual’s plan is different. We are happy to look into the details of your plan and discuss your coverage. We also recommend that you call your insurance to compare notes with the information we are given. Check my insurance here.

In addition to working with most private insurance, we also accept

    • Med-Pay (auto accident insurance)

    • FSA (Flex Spending Account) & HSA (Health Spending Account)
